Asteraceae
Adenocaulon bicolor
Trail Plant
Plant erect, widely branched at stem top. Stem white with woolly hairs on lower section, upper stem with glands. Leaves with winged petioles, mostly basal, thin, triangular to egg-shaped, shallowly lobed, with soft white hairs beneath, green and smooth above. Flowers without rays, few in a head, very small, white, male and female flowers on thin stems. Grows in moist shaded woods below 6500 ft. White undersides of leaves turn over on flexible stalks when disturbed, creating a path, thus the common name.
