Holboell's Rockcress

Stems erect, stout. Basal leaves 1/2–2 in. long, linear to spoon-shaped, toothed, with pointed tip, dense with hairs; stem leaves linear, entire, hairy on underside, clasping. Flower petals white to purplish pink. Seedpods straight or curved, pointing downward from curved stalk, close to or pressed against stem. Grows in rocky soils on open sites at mid- to alpine elevations. Var. retrofracta has straight seedpods on reflexed stalks and very small leaf hairs. Var. pinetorum has curved seedpods on arched stalks and dense leaf hairs. Similar A. puberula has gray stems with fine dense hairs; gray, often toothed or lobed leaves, basal leaves up to 1 1/4 in. and oblong, stem leaves crowded and clasping; seedpods hanging but not pressed against stem, 1–1 1/2 in. long, with rounded tips; grows in rocky places among sagebrush and juniper at mid- to high elevations.
