Sticky Whiteleaf Manzanita

Shrub without burl. Bark smooth, dark red-brown. Stems hairless, young twigs pale green coated with white waxy powder and glands. Leaves erect, 3/4–1 3/4 in., egg-shaped to nearly round, with rounded base, entire or toothed. Leaf surfaces alike, in spring coated with sticky white glands becoming smooth later. Flower buds and flowers sticky, pink to white, nearly conical. Berries light reddish brown, sticky. Grows in rocky slopes, woodlands, forests, at low to mid elevations.
