Creeps on sand but does not twine. Stems 8–20 in. Leaves smooth, wider than long, heart-shaped, with rounded tip. Bractlets egg-shaped to round, attached just below calyx and concealing it. Flowers on 1–3 in. stalks, wide, funnel-shaped, 1–2 in. across, pink to rose with a white throat. Found on coastal beaches. Grows worldwide.
