Erect. Stems short, stout. Basal leaves evergreen, divided into 3 triangular toothed lobes. Flower stem 3–10 in., leafless, with 1–2 flowers at top. Sepals narrow, 5–8, greenish, petal-like. Petals 5–7, white, club-shaped, fall early leaving many thread-like stamens. Grows in seeps, streambanks, often among mosses on wet sites in conifer forests, below 3000 ft.
