Striped Coralroot

Stem erect, red-brown to yellow, with bract-like leaves wrapping around lower stem. Flowers drooping from upper stem with petals spreading over lip. Flowers pale pinkish yellow or brown, with longitudinal stripes of deeper red to purple; lip wider, slightly cupped, almost solid deeper red. Lacks spur at base of lower petal. Grows in deep shade in decomposing duff or along streams. Similar to C. maculata, spotted coralroot, but is the largest-flowered coralroot.
