Erect shrub. Stems not round but angled with 5 edges, not barbed, hairy when young. Leaflets oval, downy hairs pressed close to surface, sessile, divided into 3 parts on older stems. Flowers bright yellow, on upper stems in the union with the simple leaflets. Grows in disturbed places at low elevations, where it becomes invasive.
