Geranium dissectum
Cut-Leaved Geranium
Upright to erect stems coated with rough outward- or downward-pointing hairs. Lower leaves are about as long as they are wide, deeply divided, 5–7 linear to oblong lobed segments with sharply pointed tips. Flowers in loose clusters, pink to purplish. Flower with 4–7 sharply pointed sepals, notched petals about same length. Seed capsule hairy, with purple-tipped beaks extending upward. Grows in open, disturbed places. Similar G. carolinianum has leaves lobed only halfway to center with lobe tips rounded and flowers congested at stem tops. Also similar, G. bicknellii has leaves deeply divided into 5 lobes.
