Erect. Stems with few long hairs. Leaves alternate, lance-shaped, 2–4 in. long, hairless, with petioles very short or absent. Flower heads 1 to few, each with 12–21 yellow ray flowers, central yellow disk about 1 in. across. Grows on dry open slopes at mid elevations.
