Rosette with long, leafless, shiny stems. Leaves numerous with petioles, egg-shaped, entire or with few lobes, 1/2–2 in. Flower stems 1–5 in. tall, numerous, each with single tiny flower. Flowers with reddish or purplish calyx, white petals. Seedpods nearly flat and distinctively round to egg-shaped, entire. Grows in moist meadows, foothills, at low to mid-elevations. Found from California to British Columbia and east to Montana. Noticed for its most distinctive pod and named for the state of Idaho.
