Clump of many erect stems. Stems white with woolly hairs. Leaves sessile, alternate on stem, egg-shaped, entire or toothed, about 1–2 1/2 in. long, white-woolly on underside, less so or hairless on top. Flower heads 4–12, in flat-topped cluster, on stalks 1–2 in. long, atop stems. Disk flowers 11–15, creamy yellow, with erect lobes. No ray flowers. Grows in rocky open sites, on talus or sometimes serpentine, at low to subalpine elevations.
