Sulphur Lupine

Erect, green. Stems and leaves covered with sparse fine hair. Leaves on stems divided palmately, 9–15 narrow oval leaflets with pointed tips. Flowers in dense spike, pale sulfur yellow, occasionally bluish, banner with few hairs on back. Pods silky. Grows on dry slopes, gravelly soils. Similar L. sabinianus has rounded, lance-shaped, green leaflets with silky hairs on both sides and deeper yellow flowers. Both species grow in Blue Mountains.
