Yellow Pond Lily

Nuphar polysepala
Leaves arise directly from underwater root system and float or arise above water. Leaves 4–18 in. long, heart-shaped. Cup-shaped flowers float or rise above water, are about 4 in. across, yellow, often tinted green or red. Flower center includes large, bright yellow disk-like stigma surrounded by yellow or red-tinged stamens. Found in shallow ponds and slow streams usually 2–10 ft. deep at elevations below treeline.
