Azure Penstemon

Ascending stems with leaves from woody base. Stems and leaves hairless, not sticky. Leaves blue with waxy coating, oval, widest at base, clasping stem, pointed tip. Flower bright lavender-blue, opens from a yellow bud, staminode hairless. Grows on dry open slopes in hills and mountains at low to high elevations.
