Rusty Popcorn Flower
Rosette and many erect stems. Stems and leaves have rusty to pale yellow, spreading, slightly sticky hairs; sap purple. Leaves linear, basal, crowded, 1–4 in. long; stem leaves few, alternate. Flowers 1/4 in. across, white with tiny yellow throat, very tightly coiled at top. Often seen in early spring in huge waves in grasslands, woodlands. Grows from sea level to low elevations.
