Creeping Spearwort

Amphibious. Stems prostrate, branched, growing outward for 18 in. or less, rooting like strawberry stolons. Basal and lower stem leaves with 1–3 in. petioles, linear to lance-shaped, entire; upper stem leaves smaller. Flowers small and yellow at stem tips, mostly with 5 petals. Grows in wet meadows, shallow water at edges of lakes, ditches, ponds, as water recedes in muddy soils, below 7500 ft.
