Sitka Romanzoffia

Stems spreading to upright, coated with straight hairs. Leaves mostly basal, fleshy, nearly round, to 1 1/2 in. across, shallowly lobed, on petioles to 3 in. with thickened and usually hairy base. Flowers few to several on stalks 6 in. or less, widely bell-shaped, white with yellow center. Grows on wet rocks, cliffs, and mountain ledges to 7000 ft, at sea level in British Columbia and Alaska. Similar R. californica is up to 12 in. tall, with few smaller leaves alternate along stem, flowers in loose cluster at stem top, funnel-shaped, white with a yellow band inside; found west of Cascades from central Oregon south.
