Prostrate or ascending. Stems 1–12 in., branched, somewhat succulent. Leaves in basal rosette, divided, 3 lobes, toothed, with long needle-like tips. Juvenile leaves are green, those on flowering plants are yellow-green. Flowers small, bright yellow, in rounded umbels, surrounded by long leaf-like bracts. Grows on coastal bluffs, dunes, to 600 ft. A standout in early spring with its fresh, bright yellow leaves and flowers in tight mats.
