Basal leaf rosette, long red flower stem from center. Leaves glossy, fan-shaped, deeply toothed across wide tip end. Flower stems leafless, hairy or not, reddish to purple, flowers at top, each on a short stalk. Flower petals and sepals same size; petals white with 2 yellow or greenish dots at base. Grows in damp meadows, rocky ledges, at high elevations.
