Sprawling succulent with ascending flowering stems. Leaves in crowded rosette, egg- to spoon-shaped, widest above the middle, fleshy and somewhat flattened, green often turning bronze; stem leaves alternate. Inflorescence dense, with 3–16 flowers. Flowers united at base, then opening wide, lance-shaped, with long sharply pointed tips, yellow with red midvein and yellow to red-brown anthers. Grows in rocky ledges, gravelly places, talus slopes, from sea level to alpine.
