Stems clustered, upright. Leaves nearly round, dark green, fleshy, to 6 in. across. Upper leaves divided into 5–9 linear lobes; basal leaves shallowly lobed. Flowers numerous on short stalks in loose spike above leaves. Flower consists of 1/4 in. calyx coated with tiny star-like and longer hairs, 1/4–3/4 in. petals. This species may also have both bisexual and female plants. Found in alkaline seeps and seasonally wet meadows mostly at low to mid elevations.
