Plant with few erect stems. Stems hairy throughout, with glands on upper portion. Leaves egg-shaped; lower leaves 2–3 in. long; upper leaves 1/2–2 in. long. Flowers on short stalks or sessile. Calyx 1/3–1/2 in. high, covered with glands, 5 petals, white fading to pink, each divided into 4 lobes, inner lobes longer and forked, 4 inner appendages pointed. Grows in open forests at high elevations.
