Erect stems with numerous branches or unbranched. Few basal leaves with short petioles, narrowly oval, shedding before bloom time; stem leaves clasping, toothed or wavy-edged. Flowers small and white atop stems. Seedpods ascending, round to widely oval, less than 3/4 in. across, flat, with papery edges and notched tip. Grows in disturbed soils along roads, fields, at low to mid-elevations.
