Yellow Salsify
Tall, erect. Stems few, branched. Produces very sticky, juicy, white latex sap. Leaves grass-like, narrow, 5–6 in. long, clasping stems. Leaves covered with soft hairs when young, becoming smooth and coated with white waxy powder with age. Bracts are longer than pale yellow ray flowers. Flowers close in cloudy weather and at noon and night; they face the sun morning and evening. Grows in dry grassy areas, along roads and other urban places, at low elevations.
