Giant-Head Clover
Stem ascending from rhizome. Plant hairy. Leaves thick, basal and on stem, divided palmately to 7–9 egg-shaped leaflets. Flower head widely egg-shaped, 1–2 1/2 in. long, expanding with age to 3–4 in. or more. Flowers pale pink to purple or 2-colored. Grows in rocky soils with shrubs or juniper, ridges at mid to high elevations. Macrocephalum is Latin for "large head."
