Small-Head Clover
Decumbent to erect annual with soft wavy hairs. Leaves on stems, divided palmately, 3 leaflets to 3/4 in. long, with notched tip. Flower head roundish, less than 1/2 in. across, surrounded by hairy bowl-shaped bract with entire pointed lobes. Flowers 7 or more, pale pink to lavender. Grows in streambanks in moist, disturbed soils, sometimes serpentine, at low to high elevations. Microcephalum is Latin for "small flower head."
