Woolly Mullein
Erect, sturdy, unbranched flowering stem grows out of first year's basal rosette, all parts covered with white-woolly hairs. Leaves thick, 4–15 in. long, oblong, entire, carried on very short, winged stalks. Inflorescence is a long spike, very dense, with just a few flowers in bloom at a time. Grows in disturbed areas at low to mid elevations. Sometimes distorted when sprayed with chemicals, especially along roads.
