Creeping, prostrate to upright, hairless. Leaves sessile, linear, 3/4–1 1/2 in., often tinted purple. Alternating long stalks from axils of upper leaves bear flowers. Flower pale blue, lavender, or white with purple lines. Grows in wet meadows, ditches, drying ponds, lawns, at low elevations.
