Erect, hairless. Stems leafy. Leaves palmately separated to 5 linear leaflets, each 1/2–2 1/2 in. long. Flowers consist of 4 yellow sepals fused at base with lance-shaped, tiny-toothed tips; 4 yellow petals oblong to egg-shaped and 6 yellow stamens extending beyond petals. Seedpods long, rounded, curved, hanging on long curved stalks. Grows in sandy soils in deserts, steppe, often in riparian areas.
