Helenium autumnale
Large-Flowered Sneezeweed
Tall, erect. Stems with few branches. Leaves mostly on stems, oblong-toothed; lower leaves have short petioles with wings continuing down stem; upper leaves sessile. Flower heads several, each on 1–4 in. stalk. Flower head has 10–20 reflexed yellow ray flowers with 3-lobed tips and rounded center with many 5-lobed disk flowers. Grows in wet soils below 7000 ft. A beautiful plant often used in gardens for its late summer bloom.
