Erect deciduous shrub. Stems yellow to pale green. Leaves alternate, lance-shaped to widely oblong, 1–3 in. long, thin, upper surface bright green with few or no hairs, lower side lighter in color, hairy. Inflorescence to 6 in. long, consisting of many stalked clusters of white to pale blue flowers. Seedpods sticky. Grows in openings in mixed forests at low to mid-elevations.
