Alpine Spring Beauty

Rosette of basal leaves from a thick carrot-like root. Basal leaves spoon-shaped, 1–4 in. long, with wide rounded tips; stem leaves few, narrow. Flowers many, sessile or stalked, with 2 green or reddish sepals and 5 white petals aging to pink. Grows among loose rocks and on talus in alpine.
