Grand Hound's Tongue
Erect, often single, hairless stem. Leaves lance- to heart-shaped, smooth above, hairy below. Basal leaves 3–6 in. long, 1–4 in. wide, abruptly narrowing to petioles 3–6 in. long; few smaller leaves on lower stems. Flowers blue in panicle atop bare stem. Flowers have 5 conspicuous white raised nubs in a central ring. Grows in lightly shaded, open mixed woods, at low to mid elevations.
