Mats with stems seldom exceeding 6 in. Leaves many, alternate on stem, widely oval to nearly round, with widely rounded tip, 1/4–3/4 in. long with short petiole, shiny or lightly covered with white or blue powdery wax. Flowers pink to deep rose-purple, petals to 1 in. long, deeply lobed. Grows in rocky places, usually in colonies among rocks, at high elevations. Similar E. siskiyouense has sessile leaves with tip pointed; grows on rocky serpentine, scree in Siskiyou Mountains at high elevations.
