Erect, hairless, yellow-green plant with milky sap. Stem hairless, 4–14 in. tall. Leaves with short petioles, smaller at top, opposite, widely oval, entire, with rounded to notched tip. Flowers in upper leaf axils, tiny, 4 green glands each with 2 slender horns. Grows in moist soils in gardens, disturbed places, below 1500 ft.
