Microseris laciniata
Cut-Leaf Microseris
Upright branched stems, each with single flower head, milky sap. Leaves mostly at base, 4–20 in., egg-shaped, pinnately divided into opposite lobes, with long pointed tip. Cup holding flower head narrow with triangular phyllaries. Flowers yellow, with 13–100 petals; central bristles white or brownish, may be barbed. Grows in open grasslands, rocky soils, edges of forest, at low and mid elevations. In var. siskiyouensis, found near Siskiyou Pass on Oregon-California state line, outer side of phyllaries are mealy and may have some black hairs.
