California Bog Asphodel
Stem erect above flat basal leaves. Leaves 2 to several, linear, overlapping, 4–12 in. long. Flowers in 3–6 in. cluster atop stem. Flowers with 1/3–3/4 in. stalk, small, yellow, consisting of 6 petals and 6 stamens with wool on the filaments; anthers brick red. Grows in wet meadows, fens, streambanks, at mid to high elevations.
