Clump or single stem, plant hairless. Stem ascending to reclining, rooting at nodes. Leaves on 4–12 in. stalks, widely egg-shaped, pinnately divided into toothed, egg-shaped leaflets with veins pointing to tips of teeth. Inflorescence consists of 5–20 flower clusters in flat-topped umbel. Flowers many, white-petaled. Grows in marshes, ditches, pond edges, seasonally wet places, from near coastline to mid-elevations.
