Yellow Rattle
Stems erect, leafy, sometimes branched. Plant slightly hairy. Leaves opposite, sessile, 1–3 in. long, lance-shaped, with pointed tip, deeply toothed. Flowers among leaves. Flower calyx inflated like a green balloon with a small yellow flower emerging; upper lip hood-like over 3 lobes below. Seeds inside enlarged calyx rattle when dry. Grows in moist fields, meadows, at low elevations. Circumboreal.
