Sticky Currant

Upright to spreading shrub covered with glands that secrete a very gummy substance. Stems to 40 in. long, without spines. Leaves gray-green, thick, fragrant, round, palmately divided into 5 toothed lobes. Flowers bell-shaped, whitish green to yellowish white, 4–15 in erect to hanging cluster. Berries black, covered with bluish wax, very gummy. Grows in streambanks, damp to dry woods, at mid- to high elevations.
