Prince's Plume

Clump, few to many erect flower stems from base. Leaves lance-shaped, gray-green, usually coated with white waxy powder. Basal and lower stem leaves 2–6 in. long, deeply lobed; upper leaves with few lobes or entire. Flower spike dense with yellow buds and flowers. Flowers consist of reflexed or spreading sepals, 1/3–3/4 in., petals densely coated at center with long wavy hairs, stamens extending outward. Seedpods 1–3 in. long, hanging down. Grows in open sites in dry sandy sagebrush and talus below 6000 ft.
