Basal cluster of heart-shaped leaves below leafless, upright, white to light green flower stem bearing a single lavender flower. The upper 2 petals are shorter than the 2 white-bearded side petals. The lower petal has a small yellow patch at the base. The 3 lowest petals have purple veins. Spur has a short upturned pouch. Grows in moist places, bogs, talus, scree, at low to high elevations.
